The John Muir National Historic Site features a family cemetery where environmental pioneer John Muir and his relatives are buried. Located beside a historic pear orchard and surrounded by mixed evergreen forest, the site includes a massive Eucalyptus tree Muir dubbed a «guardian angel.»

​​The National Park Service manages this historically significant area, balancing conservation with public access. Our contribution involved designing visitor amenities such as an entry gate, accessible pathways, a gathering area, and interpretive signage. These improvements enhance accessibility and educational value while preserving the site’s natural beauty. Open by appointment, this residential-area gravesite offers controlled access to an important piece of environmental history.
