Life and environment are inextricably linked, each profoundly impacting the other. Maintaining this natural flow of connection enriches ecosystems and promotes life. As humans, we bear a tremendous responsibility for our environment, which in turn has the power to nourish and sustain us.

Daniela Peña Corvillon

Principal + Founder

Daniela is an architect & landscape architect specializing in the restoration of ecological systems at the intersection of human and wild spaces. Born in Santiago, Chile, she studied architecture at Universidad Finis Terrae (2008). Daniela main interest is on improving quality of life by the contact with nature. A focus on Water Ecology finally brought her to UC Berkeley to pursue a Master’s in Landscape Architecture and Environmental Planning (2013). 

​For over a decade, Daniela collaborated with renowned landscape architect John Northmore Roberts, working on projects that seamlessly integrated human uses into natural areas and restored ecological functions in urban environments. Her portfolio includes significant work with the National Park Service, conservation NGOs, and eco-conscious private clients.

​Daniela’s expertise also extends to international work, addressing environmental and social challenges in high-need areas. Her approach uniquely blends social and artistic perspectives with environmental solutions. An adventurous spirit drives her to find deep resolutions to complex problems, primarily focusing on embracing native landscapes and restoring natural hydrologic cycles.

At WiLD LandArch, we offer a comprehensive suite of services that blend innovative design with ecological sensitivity. Our expertise spans Master Planning & Feasibility Studies, Site Design, Landscape Architecture, and Architecture Design, with a special focus on Wildland Urban Interface (WUI) Site Design and Fire Resiliency. We excel in creating Ecological Resiliency through Environmental Restoration and Site Sensitive Design, always with an eye towards Climate Adaptation. Our collaborative approach includes Community Design Charrettes, ensuring that local voices are heard and incorporated into our projects.
 

Underpinning all our work is a commitment to Sustainable and Resilient Design. We leverage advanced GIS Analysis to inform our decisions and implement cutting-edge Water Conservation Strategies and Site Water Management techniques. Our designs prioritize Habitat Protection and Site Conservation Strategies, balancing human needs with environmental preservation. Additionally, we offer Grant & Funding Support to help bring visionary projects to life.

A hallmark of our practice is our beautiful garden design, with extensive experience in challenging hilly sites throughout the San Francisco Bay Area and Northern California. We transform terrains into stunning, functional landscapes that harmonize with the natural topography while maximizing usability and aesthetic appeal. Our passion lies in collaborating closely with architects to create cohesive compositions that seamlessly blend indoor and outdoor living spaces. By integrating native plants, sustainable water use, and creative hardscaping, we craft unique outdoor environments that not only reflect the local ecosystem but also extend the living space beyond the walls of the home.

Matias Alcalde Conservation Chile

Matias Alcalde

Strategy & Resources Innovation Leader

Matías experience lies in designing strategies and roadmaps to develop territories, building systemic approaches around conservation and local economic development, to find long-term financial sustainability as a whole. He has deep knowledge of community work and social processes, governance, coastal-marine and terrestrial resilience, clean energy transition, food systems and regenerative agriculture, with an entrepreneurial spirit and science-based approach.

Matías is a Civil Engineer from the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile with a diploma in Hydraulic Engineering. His career has been focused on water resources engineering and monitoring, project development, Private Equity, Tourism and Conservation.

He was Executive Director of the Punta de Lobos Foundation and has led coastal-marine initiatives throughout Chile. He co-founded the NGO Costa Sur to promote sustainability in reconstruction after the 2010 disasters, and later the GiveSurf Foundation, implementing educational programs based on surfing in coastal communities. Recently, Matías was based in California for four years leading the Chile-California Council, focusing on climate action through public-private partnerships.

Mia van Docto

Ecohydrologist & Environmental Planner

Mia van Docto is a conservation scientist, planner, and artist specializing in eco-hydrology, fluvial geomorphology, aquatic ecosystem restoration, species recovery, and regional planning. As a first-generation, biracial, Filipino American, Mia brings a unique perspective to her work, skillfully navigating complex systems and building coalitions to co-create solutions for challenging environmental problems.

With a BS in Earth Science from the University of California, Santa Cruz, and a Masters in Environmental Planning from UC Berkeley, Mia’s diverse background provides valuable insights into the dynamic interplay between human land use and ecosystems. She excels at translating scientific findings into actionable recovery prioritization strategies, offering an insightful perspective for project development.

Passionate about water, rivers, and restoration, Mia views her work as a crucial component of social and environmental justice. Her approach combines scientific rigor with artistic sensitivity, enabling her to develop innovative solutions that balance ecological needs with community interests. Her international experience includes sustainable development work in the Philippines, and conservation planning in Portugal and Taiwan. Mia also founded the Women’s International Fund for Education, further demonstrating her commitment to social equity and empowerment.

Francisco Godoy

Architect & Sustainability Specialist

Francisco Godoy, a Chilean architect with a Master’s in Sustainable and Environmental Design from London’s Architectural Association, specializes in passive climate adaptation strategies inspired by nature and vernacular knowledge.

His work is known for seamlessly integrating human comfort with environmental responsiveness, creating sincere designs that deeply connect with each site’s natural conditions. As an educator and community member, Francisco contributes valuable insights on environmental issues and climate change impacts on urban and residential spaces.

Currently the Academic Coordinator at Finis Terrae University’s Architecture School, Francisco also develops sustainable private residential projects. At WiLD LandArch, we value his talent, creativity, and expertise in creating impactful, site-specific architectural solutions.

Elijah Andrews

Outdoor Recreation Planner

Elijah Andrews, a professional guide and instructor with 20 years of wilderness experience, excels at fostering deep connections between people and nature. His B.A. in Child Development from Humboldt State University, with a focus on Recreational Administration and Leadership Studies, informs his innovative approach to human development through nature connection.

An accomplished outdoor enthusiast, Elijah’s diverse skills in kayaking, backpacking, biking, surfing, and kitesurfing allow him to engage with landscapes in unique ways. His keen observation of birds and wildlife enriches the team’s understanding of local ecosystems. 

At WiLD LandArch, his blend of outdoor expertise and understanding of human-nature interactions contributes significantly to our innovative approach to landscape architecture and design. 

Rebecca Sunter

Planting Designer + Founding Principal of terrene.co 

Rebecca specializes in connecting people to their outdoors. Her designs emphasize livability and living plant collections customized to a site and its occupants.

Rebecca holds a Masters of Landscape Architecture from UC Berkeley and was trained in the offices of Lutsko Associates, John Northmore Roberts & Associates, and Bernard Trainor’s Ground Studio.  

She lived and worked in the sustainable farming sector and ran a garden Design/Build operation specializing in edible and medicinal gardens. She has taught in UC Berkeley’s College of Environmental Design studios and hand-drafting courses, and continues to advise on jury reviews.  

Her designs have been awarded by the National Park Service, Van Alen Institute, National Capital Planning Commission, National University of Singapore, University of California, Diablo Garden Club, and the Landscape Architecture Foundation.

Rebecca was reared in the New England woods, a mile down a dirt road from a lake, and is on a perpetual hunt for freshwater swim holes and steamy hot springs. She lives in the San Francisco Bay Area.

Designer

Ignacio is a Chilean architect with exceptional sensitivity to natural environments. His perspective on space, shaped by a restless curiosity and skills acquired throughout his life -including gardening, music, dance, and fashion- has given him a rich foundation for embracing new ideas through an interdisciplinary approach.

An Universidad de Chile graduate, his work focuses on water conservation amidst climate change, exploring how social ecology can protect this vital resource across urban, rural, and wild landscapes. His portfolio spans accessibility projects, earth construction, community guidance, and international competition proposals.

At WiLD LandArch, Ignacio strengthens his expertise in soil, native plants, and soundscapes while developing self-built territorial mosaics that view our planet through ecological lenses. His passion for cultural landscapes acknowledges ancestral inhabitants and their historical significance, with recent work in Patagonia exploring conservation and restoration strategies for this extraordinary region.
