Sausalito Hills Garden

Sausalito, CA | 2024
As the Senior Associate and Project Manager for JNRA, Daniela Peña Corvillón led the design and execution of this project.

In the picturesque Sausalito hills, this project revitalizes a historic 1886 residence, crafting enchanting outdoor spaces that honor the home’s heritage and embrace its stunning surroundings.

The steep hillside now features a cascade of functional terraces, including a panoramic hot tub retreat and a cozy fire ring area. As the home of a creative artist, a secluded painter’s studio provides an ideal setting for inspiration.

Our design preserves the property’s mature landscape, with historic olive trees and existing tree ferns artfully integrated. A majestic oak canopy crowns the property, offering natural shade and timeless beauty.

Master stonemason Jael Lafemina’s exquisite craftsmanship elevates the garden. New Hampshire granite walls, steps, and cobblestones add texture and elegance, seamlessly blending the home’s historic character with the hills’ natural beauty.

This renovation harmonizes preservation, functionality, and natural splendor. The textured garden, with its rich planting palette, attracts hummingbirds and butterflies, creating a vibrant sanctuary where past and present converge, inviting solace and inspiration for generations to come.
